Obsidian, Red Hat unite to push the value of open source

Obsidian Systems is the most certified partner in South African. With the launch of Red Hat’s Partner Programme 3.0 Obsidian is now a Premier Partner on infrastructure and middleware.

Since 1999, Obsidian has served as a Red Hat Partner reinforcing its position as an established provider of Linux and OSS solutions and services to the Southern African market since 1995.

Obsidian Systems, a local Open Source (OS) software specialist, has etched its name in the annals of OS history by securing status as a Red Hat Certified Premier Partner in 2008 – a first for the South African market.

This status empowers Obsidian Systems to provide up-to-date information, deployment and consulting on the latest Red Hat Enterprise Open Source technology, systems and application.

Part of its value proposition to its client base is to partner with other equally influential role players in the broader OS community.

Red Hat is a leading global provider of OS enterprise IT products. This market focus and strength made the venture stand out as an attractive ally for Obsidian Systems explains Muggie van Staden, MD at Obsidian Systems.

“We are very proud of our association with Red Hat, a progressive business that is fast changing the global perception of Open Source and the realisation of benefits,” said van Staden.

“Our expertise and experience in the market means that we are very capable of offering training and insight into this infrastructure and how it can add value to the domestic market.”
