Join Obsidian for a beer glass full of Open Source insight
In the spirit of open and frank discussion about the opportunities that reside within Open Source, Obsidian Systems, a home-grown supplier of Open Source software solutions, will host another information session as part of its Free Beer Session networking initiative.
The initiative is already well established, successful and affords guests an opportunity to network about the latest Open Source Software (OSS) trends. The event has attracted the participation of past speakers including Anton de Wet, Len Weincier, Phillip Booysen, Johan Lamprecht, Karl Fischer and Lee Taylor, amongst other open source stalwarts.
The next Free Beer session will take place on 02 October 2014 at the Investec Building on Grayston Drive, Sandton, Johannesburg.
Delegates will have the opportunity to enjoy presentations from well-known speaker and Red Hat EMEA evangelist Jan Wildeboer, a lobbyist for Open Source, Open Innovation, Community and Governance, as well as industry representatives to discuss Open Source and Microsoft.
Obsidian Systems was started in 1995 as a modest services business targeting businesses and organisations looking to integrate and leverage off Linux infrastructure.
The Company strives to bring three legs to the South African market. The first being certified products, the second being local consulting and support skills and the third being vendor certified training and certification. With these three elements, any organisation can trust the enterprise open source solution provided management claim.
The Free Beer Session initiative was introduced to offer stakeholders an informal but effective platform to discuss issues that impact Open Source software.
Muggie van Staden, MD at Obsidian Systems, says the initiative has grown from strength to strength and is recognised by the Open Source community as a credible and resourceful project that attracts top of the line speakers.
