Hands on Treatment reaches out to tomorrow’s entrepreneurs
In keeping with its policy to take a direct ‘hands-on’ approach, mobile massage and wellness services company Hands on Treatment offers would-be entrepreneurs on-the-job experience by shadowing experienced professionals.
The Company provides on-site neck and shoulder chair massage service to the corporate sector, covering specialised labour-intensive areas such as call centres, events and exhibitions, amongst others.
Hands On Treatment has also established an in-house training programme that has been running for ten years. It also has a partnership in place with the Services SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority).
Martina Laurie, CEO of Hands on Treatment, recently received a written request for the chance to learn the trade from a young mother and accounting clerk.
An excerpt from this communication reads, “My short term goal is to start a mobile spa where I will offer massages, manicures and pedicures as well as make up for special occasions at the comfort of my client’s homes. My targets are working, house wives and business women who have very busy schedules and cannot make it to a spa for a day of relaxation. In the long term I see myself as owner of a day spa and an employer. However I have no idea as to how to start my business and financially too and this is where I need your input and advice. When I read your article, I was inspired and thought I need a mentor like you to take me by the hand.”
True to its spirit of entrepreneurship, skills development and the empowerment of females, Hands on Treatment hosted the 26-year-old for an afternoon during which she was shown all facets of the business and had the opportunity to speak to key personnel.
“Our visitor was introduced to some of our managers and staff, so that she could also hear their story about the journey since joining the Hands On Group. It is our responsibility as entrepreneurs to share our business secrets with the younger generation,” said Laurie.
